Bears work out former Michigan star offensive lineman Michael Schofield
The Chicago Bears recently brought in former Michigan star offensive lineman Michael Schofield for a workout, per Field Yates of ESPN. He started 12 of 15 games that he played for the LA Chargers last year. The 6-foot-6, 301-pounder has made a total of 81 starts since joining the league as a third-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft for the Denver Broncos.
If the Bears decide to sign him, he’d help upgrade their offensive line immediately. Last season, he was graded by Pro Football Focus with a 66.8 PFF grade and only allowed two sacks for the Chargers. In pass blocking, PFF gave him a grade of 75.2, ranking him the ninth best among 80 qualifying guards.
In the NFL, he’s had a number of stints with different teams, including: the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and a second stint with the Chargers.
He was on the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 Championship roster that defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10. In his first stint with the LA Chargers from 2017-2019, Schofield played right tackle and right guard. He only spent a few months with the Baltimore Ravens before being released on August 30th, 2021.
