Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt on what Xavier Worthy brings to Chiefs: ‘Speed. That’s about it’
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt seems to not beleive the hype around Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy. While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Taylor-Britt was asked what Worthy brings to the Chiefs offense.
“Speed. That’s about it,” Taylor-Britt said, via Caleb Noe of WPCO. “He can run straight. Run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can’t do too much else, so that’s about it. I feel like if you put your hands on him, he’s only a hundred-some pounds, so if you put hands on him, you’re gonna stop his speed, so basically get your hands on him.”
Taylor-Britt made the comments after Worth caught two passes for 47 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 21 yards on one carrier in the Chiefs’ 27-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday. On Wednesday, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reports that Worthy will build on his huge showing in his NFL debut.
“I think it’s just going to be a spark,” Mahomes said, per Pro Football Talk. “It shows what he can do. Obviously, it showed his speed. It showed how he’s able to run routes and find open spaces. It just kind of gives him that confidence. I think he already had it anyways, but to show that he can do it on Sundays or whatever day of the week that we’re playing. It’s just kind of a start for him.

“We want him to keep building. We want to get him more and more involved in the offense, but a great start.”
Worthy also spoke to reporters on Wednesday and shared his thoughts on facing the Bengals, a team that has become a big rival for the Chiefs over the last few years. “I don’t know anything about a rivalry,” Worthy said, per KSHB 41 in Kansas City. “It’s about football at the end of the day. Everybody wants to do what they do. It’s gonna be a fun one.”
Fans will see Taylor-Britt and Worthy face off when the Chiefs host the Bengals on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. The game will air on CBS with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo having the call.
