The Minnesota Vikings have a difficult decision to make with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins this offseason. The former Washington starter missed a large chunk of the season after tearing his Achilles, but he should be healthy by training camp. Minnesota could either attempt to extend Cousins’ contract or allow how to test the free agent waters.

Las Vegas oddsmakers believe there’s at least some chance he doesn’t stay with the Vikings next season. They’ve posted the latest odds for which team Cousins will play for next season, and though Minnesota leads the pack, there are numerous options. There are teams in both conferences that could use an experienced quarterback like Cousins to hold them over until a face-of-the-franchise type comes along.

Here are the latest odds for Cousins’ next team, via DraftKings:

Minnesota Vikings -200
Atlanta Falcons +300
Washington Commanders +500
Las Vegas Raiders +800
Tennessee Titans +1200
New England Patriots +1200
Pittsburgh Steelers +1600
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3500
Denver Broncos +5000
Chicago Bears +5000

Prior to his injury, Cousins was completing passes at a 69.5% rate, which is amongst the highest of his career. He also had 18 touchdowns to five interceptions. He last signed a one-year, $35 million extension for the 2023 season in March of 2022.

ESPN insiders weigh in on Cousins’ future

ESPN wrote of Cousins: “He has repeatedly said he wants to end his career in Minnesota, and as he departed the locker room for the offseason, Cousins left the clear impression that he hoped the Vikings’ offer would reflect a similar wish.

“It’s not about the dollars,” Cousins told reporters “but it is about what the dollars represent.”

Kevin Seifert, who covers the Vikings for ESPN, predicts that Minnesota will offer Cousins a two-year extension. “That gives the Vikings two years — until Cousins is 38 years old — to draft and develop his successor,” Seifert predicted.

The Vikings select 11th in April’s NFL Draft. Without a trade up in the draft, it’s too low to nab an elite quarterback like Caleb WilliamsDrake Maye or Jayden Daniels. That trio could go in the top five, but certainly the top 10. There are also prospects like J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix, however, that teams could draft higher than expected.
