Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is having some fun with quarterback Kirk Cousins as they prepare for the 2024 season. While speaking to reporters on Monday, Robinson was asked about Cousins bringing dad energy to the team.

“Me and Kirk are right next to each other in the locker room,” Robinson said. “One time, we were saying something that he’s done in back in the day, and I was like, ‘Bro, I was born in 2002.’ And he was like, ‘Bro, I was in seventh grade.’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ I think Kirk is old enough to be my dad.

“I love that dude. We always joke with him and he takes it so good and so easy. That’s the fun of it when you have a guy that’s right next to you can have fun and take all the jokes and still be focused on the field. It’s always good to have somebody like that.”

Cousins is not old enough to be anyone’s dad on the Falcons roster, but he is the oldest player on the team at 35 years old. On the flip side, Robinson the one of the youngest players at 22 years old. The Falcons are hoping the combination of Cousins’ experience at QB and Robinsons playmaking ability at running back can lead to huge things this fall.

“I was happy man,” Robinson said. “I was happy just because I feel like he is a top 10 quarterback, but I think because with his faith, just how good of a dude he is to other people to his teammates, that’s why I was excited. I knew he could come in here and gel right away with all of us because the cool thing that Terry [Fontenot] Raheem [Morris], Arthur Blank, Arthur Smith, what they all did is they got really talented dudes but they got really good dudes at the same time.

“Obviously, he’s a good dude, so I think he would come in here and immediately gel with the team that’s really what he did.”

Cousins suffered an Achilles injury and missed half of the 2023 season with the Minnesota Vikings. Robinson is coming off a strong rookie season, tallying 976 rushing yards, 487 receiving yards and eight total touchdowns.
