Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is happy that his injured ankle is getting better. Earlier this month, the former Texas Longhorns running back shared an update on his injury and his recovery.

“I feel great, Robinson said. “I know that I had to continue to rehab it and just get comfortable being back to myself. It’s good being back on the field with the guys. It’s tough being in there while they’re at practice and me trying to get back, but I feel good and it’s a blessing to be back.”

Robinson then revealed when the ankle injury happened. “It was kind of lingering from the season, but I was training on it the whole time,” Robinson said. “I was like going hard. It was something that I felt but didn’t really feel too bad. When I got back to the trainers for the first two weeks of OTAs, I was in workouts and everything like rolling. And then I was like let me try to check this out.

“That’s when we found that out, and then I was like alright, let me just try to get back to 100 percent. That’s what I did, so it’s good to be back.” Robinson added that the ankle injury was a “light sprain” that felt “weird on the side.” The 22-year-old added, “I was just trying to make sure I don’t feel it all before I come back, and that’s what we all agreed on by the time I got back today.” Robinson then revealed he’s “close to 100” percent and is “trying to get my breathing back” and being in “football shape.”

Bijan Robinson ‘happy’ to be playing with Kirk Cousins

The Falcons will need Robinson healthy if they want to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017. A big issue with the Falcons the last two seasons is inconsistent quarterback play, leading the team to signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract. In May, Robinson revealed his reaction to the signing on the Bussin With the Boys show.

“I was happy man,” Robinson said. “I was happy just because I feel like he is a top 10 quarterback, but I think because with his faith, just how good of a dude he is to other people to his teammates, that’s why I was excited. I knew he could come in here and gel right away with all of us because the cool thing that Terry [Fontenot] Raheem [Morris], Arthur Blank, Arthur Smith, what they all did is they got really talented dudes but they got really good dudes at the same time.

“Obviously, he’s a good dude, so I think he would come in here and immediately gel with the team that’s really what he did.”
