Bill Belichick, Jim Harbaugh headline latest odds for next Dallas Cowboys head coach following Green Bay Packers loss

Sunday saw yet another disappointing end to a season for the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs. That leaves the franchise with more questions than answers, especially when it comes to the future of Mike McCarthy as the head coach of America’s Team.
With uncertainty with the Cowboys after their loss to Green Bay in the NFC Wild Card, BetOnline has released a set of odds featuring 10 names that could become the next head coach for Dallas. It features some that have already been rumored, others who could join the conversation, and some that likely haven’t even been considered.
Bill Belichick (-175)

Bill Belichick, the greatest coach in the history of the NFL, is the most interesting option for Dallas, and the heavy favorite in these odds, following his breakup with New England last week. If Jerry Jones wants an unquestionable man at the helm, Belichick is about as sure-fire as he could get.
To be fair, Belichick’s final four seasons with the Patriots didn’t go too well with a record of 29-38. Still, with him on the sidelines, Dallas could add a pedigree that’s all-time great to lead their staff into next season after falling short, especially as of late.
Mike Vrabel (+500)

The split between Mike Vrabel and the Tennessee Titans may have been the most surprising of the offseason so far. However, it’s a decision that could be a gain for many teams in the league, including Dallas if they were to move on from McCarthy and be interested.
Vrabel posted a record of 54-45 in Nashville. That mark was 41-24 before two straight losing seasons the past two years in Music City. Even so, few doubt his ability as a head coach and he would be an acceptable name that could potentially get the Cowboys over the hump.
Bobby Slowik (+700)

The first coordinator on the list is on staff on a fellow Texas team in Houston OC Bobby Slowik. He is in his first season as offensive coordinator after spending the six years beforehand with the San Francisco 49ers.
With CJ Stroud, the rookie quarterback, leading the unit, the Texans’ offense was a Top-15 group in the NFL. They averaged 22.2 points and nearly 350 yards per game this season en route to the AFC South crown. That’s been enough to get his name on the coaching carousel, including when it comes to a potential opening for the Cowboys.
Jim Harbaugh (+800)

The most discussed name in the coaching cycle around the National Football League has to be Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. After several seasons in San Francisco, he returned to Ann Arbor and coached the Wolverines to success, especially over the last three years with playoff berths and a national title to show for it.
Still, his interest in a return to the league never seemed to waver as he has conducted interviews and been linked to teams over the past few years. Now, after winning it all at the collegiate level, he may finally make it back to the pros with Dallas as a fascinating potential option.
Dan Quinn (+800)

Heading into the loss against the Packers, Cowboys DC Dan Quinn was in conversations for other jobs in the NFL. However, following the defeat, he may very well end up as McCarthy’s successor.

Quinn just finished his third season as the team’s defensive coordinator. The unit has finished Top-10 in each season and in the top-five over the last two. Now, with McCarthy potentially out, he would make a natural, in-house replacement considering his experience back in Atlanta.
Raheem Morris (+900)
Ben Johnson (+1000)
Kellen Moore (+1200)
Pete Carroll (+1600)
Deion Sanders (+3300)
The next three on the list are all fellow coordinators in the NFL. Morris, the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, just finished his third season with the team. That included their Super Bowl-winning campaign in 2021. Johnson, another hot name on the carousel, has spent the last five seasons in Detroit, including the last two as offensive coordinator. The Lions have posted a top-five offense in both campaigns with him wearing the headset.
Then, at third, Dallas will see a familiar face in Moore. Moore was the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys for four years before heading to the Chargers this past season. Over the past five years, his offenses have averaged a Top-10 finish at 26.2 points per game. However, after this past season was so-so in LA, a return to the franchise could be in order.
Carroll falls into the same category as Belichick and Vrabel as former great coaches potentially looking for a new home. Over 14 years in Seattle, he coached the Seahawks to a 137-89 (0.606) record. That run featured 10 playoff berths, two Super Bowl appearances, and one win in the Super Bowl.
Last but not least, Coach Prime found his way onto this list with the longest odds by far. While it remains incredibly unlikely, the Hall of Famer, one who spent five years in Dallas, would create an all-time media circus if he were to take a potential opening with the Cowboys.
We’ll have to wait and see how Jones plays this decision regarding McCarthy and his future with the team. Still, if the franchise were to move in a different direction, any one of these could very well be options for Dallas as they look to find a new coach that would get them to the level that they’re hoping to achieve.
