Tom Brady Sr. certainly didn’t hold back his feelings about former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick, who parted ways with the team after the 2023 season, was almost assured another head coaching gig in 2024 based on takes from numerous outlets. However, even after interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons twice, he was without a job this cycle.

Brady Sr., who watched his son play for the legendary coach for two decades, had a theory.

“Bill is tough,” Brady Sr said, via the Boston Globe. “He runs a military system. It’s a different generation. Bill is a great, great, great coach. But his interpersonal skills are horrible. That’s the bottom line. How many times has he said — back in ’15 or ’16 — that he wanted to win without Tommy?

“When he went without Tommy, he didn’t know what he was losing. You’re losing more than just a quarterback. Ego sometimes gets in the way of things. I think it did with Bill. Now, he’s in a situation where he’s gotten crucified for the last few years by everybody and a lot of luster has come off his rose.”

The Falcons opted to hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their new head coach.

From the reports following the second interview, the only thing that needed to be done was for both parties to sign on the dotted line. However, there are some issues preventing that from happening.

And according to sports personality Bill Simmons, that issue is a divide between Blank and the rest of the organization on hiring Belichick.

“Basically, Arthur Blank wants to hire Bill Belichick, and all the front office people in Atlanta don’t want to hire Belichick,” Simmons said on his podcast. “… sport franchises are like microcosms of all big companies. The people that run the franchise, they just want to keep their jobs, they’re in job preservation mode.”

It remains to be seen if Belichick will be hired for the 2025 season at this point. As it stands, it’s highly unlikely he’d latch onto another staff as a coordinator during this stage of his career.

With the Patriots, Belichick went 266-121 and is 302-165 as a head coach with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns.

The six-time Super Bowl winner could turn to television as speculated this year, but for now, the world awaits what’s next for the future Hall of Famer.
