Bo Jackson offered advice to Raiders RB Josh Jacobs: 'Run a mother****** over'
Bo Jackson knows a thing or two about playing running back. The former Raiders star was famed for his incredible running style. Now, he has some advice that he wants to share with the current Raiders running back, Josh Jacobs.
Over the weekend, the Raiders got a 16-12 win over the Jets. In that game, Jacobs rushed for 116 yards. A huge part of that game, as he explained, came from the mentality that Jackson helped instill him leading into the game.
“You run a mother****** over, you pick him up, and you say I’m gonna come back 40 seconds later,” Jacobs said Jackson told him. “And I tried to have that mentality today.”
The game between the Raiders and Jets quickly became a slugfest, with each team on a backup quarterback. On top of that, the Jets boast one of the NFL‘s most talented defenses.
“I think that the wins like this, especially against that type of defense – to be able to grind it out, to compete – it really felt like a slugfest out there,” Jacobs said. “I was getting hit by three or four people some plays. I’m like, ‘Damn.’ But I’m getting back up and I’m like, ‘All right, we’re going to come back at you.’
Josh Jacobs didn’t manage to find the end zone against the Jets. However, his ability to consistently run down the defense’s throat set the tone and helped put the Raiders in a position to win this hard fought game.
“We was in the huddle, literally,” Jacobs said. “Greg told me, ‘Man, look, they want you to bounce outside. Keep it inside. Just trust it.’ I was like, ‘OK. I got you.’ Literally, that next play, we hit a big one, so that was really him.”

Bo Jackson is a legend dating back to his time at Auburn. Oddly enough, Josh Jacobs made his name in college at Auburn’s chief rival, Alabama. Now, the two are connected through their time with the Raiders and Jacobs will continue to look to Jackson as an example.
“The thing that I like about Bo the most is, obviously, he takes his chances and things like that,” Jacobs said. “But also he listens to the other coaches. If we feel like something is not working or we feel like we didn’t get to a play that we needed to get to, he goes in there and he listens to the coaches and he goes out there and calls it. The biggest thing that I like about him is he’s coachable, too.”
Josh Jacobs is fed up with losing
The Raiders have already fired head coach Josh McDaniels and currently have a 5-5 record. Amid all of that, Jacobs expressed his frustration with the team’s losing ways.
“I’m tired of losing. Just keep it 100. I’m tired of f****** losing, man. I feel like every day I go in there and work my a– off, so eventually something got to give,” Jacobs said.
“Five to six plays, you do them right, [it’s] the difference in the outcome of the game. But at the same time, you’re tired of saying five to six plays…it’s just time to do that s***.”
