Bo Nix answers question about favorite team growing up, preferred NFL destination
At the Reese’s Senior Bowl, NFL fans are getting their first look at some of the top senior players who will be in the 2024 NFL draft. One of those individuals is the Oregon Ducks star quarterback Bo Nix.
For those unfamiliar with Nix, despite spending two years in Eugene, he was originally the quarterback of the Auburn Tigers and hails from the state of Alabama. One of the NFL franchises he has been linked to is just a hop, skip, and jump away in the New Orleans Saints.
With Nix projected to go in the first round to the Saints, how does he feel about playing for the NFL franchise that is so close to home, and was he ever a fan of the organization?
“Well, that’s a loaded question, but honestly, realistically, in the South, most of the time, you’re more fans of the college team,” said Nix. So Auburn was my team growing up. But I just enjoyed watching NFL players, quite frankly, and seeing where those guys went in drafts. And then just kind of following along their careers.

“I didn’t necessarily have a favorite NFL team because we moved around so much and there were so many around the area. It’d be nice to be close to home. But if I’m drafted anywhere in the country, it’s an honor. There’s 32 places that can pick a player. And if you’re one of those and you get to go to one of those franchises, then I think it’s an honor and a privilege no matter where you get to spend your time.”
The sentiment Nix is alluding to is not a new one when it comes to the Southeastern part of the United States. There, college sports reign supreme, especially when you look at all the pandemonium and pageantry of attending an SEC school. And he is not the only one to highlight this belief in SEC country. Earlier in the 2023 season, former legendary head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nick Saban, provided additional perspective on this during one of his weekly appearances on the Pat McAfee show.
Nix Appears to be noncommittal on being linked to New Orleans, or concerned about any of the draft rumors. For him, it is an experience that he is honored to have the privilege to be a part of, and he will be ecstatic wherever he lands at the next level.
