Bo Nix dishes on how much receivers lobby for targets during Senior Bowl week
The Senior Bowl has come and gone and with that another opportunity for NFL hopefuls to show off for NFL scouts. It was also a challenging weeks for quarterbacks like Bo Nix, who needed to adjust to a new group of receivers.
During Senior Bowl week, Nix touched on his relationship with those receivers and, in particular, how much they lobbied him for targets throughout the week.
“Well yeah, the good thing is for receivers I think their competition, their competitive side really shows when they ask for the ball,” Bo Nix said. “I think that just shows what kind of receiver they are. They’re the competitors and they’re the dogs that want the ball. They’re not necessarily lobbying, I actually think they’ve been responsible and respectful about that. They just know that they can come out here and run around and get open and then we’re going to find them.”
Ultimately, Bo Nix was diplomatic in his answer, explaining that everyone has been doing well and that he thinks there are good NFL wide receivers on the field.
“They’ve all had really good days so far. I think they’ve all done a really good job of grasping this playbook and learning. There hasn’t been a whole lot of mess-ups and miscues, so that part’s been impressive to me from receiver and tight ends. But I think there’s definitely some good ones here, definitely ones that are going to play a long time on Sunday.”

Bo Nix ended the Senior Bowl with just two series under his belt. So, most of his week came down to how he practiced for NFL coaches and scouts.
Bo Nix discusses adjustment to utilizing NFL’s helmet communication at Senior Bowl
One major change that Bo Nix has been adjusting to at the Senior Bowl is utilizing the NFL’s helmet communication.
“It’s definitely been different, it’s definitely been new. Normally, from the sideline, we’re getting a signal, we can picture it in our head. Now, we’re having to hear it and picture it in our head. So it’s just different, but I think it’s all about repetition, doing it over and over and over,” Nix said.
“Being familiar with the words and painting the play in your head so that even if you forget the play you can just recite it because you know what it looks like. I think that it’s a challenge but it’s a fun challenge, and we’re all out here doing it for the first time.”
