Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports didn’t think he would be in the middle of a fight between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, the NASCAR insider spoke to co-hosts Kaitlyn Vincie and Mamba Smith about the fight that happened at the All-Star race earlier this year.

“It was so funny because Ricky gets out of the care center, and we’re like ‘What are you going to do about it?’ He’s like, ‘Well come on over after the race and watch.’ So it’s like an invitation,” Pockrass said. “We go to Kyle at his car because we don’t know where Ricky is going to be. We asked Kyle a few questions as he’s walking back to the hauler. Then we see Ricky standing there in those incredible shorts.

“We’re standing there and they’re just kind of talking. I’m just kind of standing there and then we could tell there’s fireworks going off in the background. All of a sudden, Ricky just swung. After a little bit, you were thinking okay they’re just going to argue it out. There’s not going to be some climactic moment. And there there was.”

Pokcrass added, “The funny thing is Fox got me this camera and it’s on a swivel because you can hit a button so that it comes to selfie mode. Kyle Busch gets thrown back into me and it spins into me and catches my face I guess at the perfect moment.”

Pockrass also said that the producers at Fox told him to send any video of the fight that he had. Because North Wilkesboro doesn’t have the “fastest internet speed,” Pockrass didn’t have time to look at the footage. He didn’t realize that the screenshot of his face during the fight was used as a meme on social media.

“You kind of get a feeling of you know when things are going to happen,” Pockrass said. “This is one like look, Ricky Stenhouse isn’t a guy who normally backs down. What you thought was he had two hours to get calm about it before that altercation.

The fight between Stenhouse and Busch was one of the most talked about stories of the NASCAR season. After the altercation, NASCAR fined Stenhouse $75,000 while Busch was not penalized.
