Bobby Labonte enters Madhouse Classic modified race ahead of Clash at Bowman Gray
The Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium just got a lot cooler. Bobby Labonte is entering the Madhouse Classic modified race. A NASCAR legend taking part in the modified race on Saturday night should help pack the stands.
The Cup Series champion still regularly races modifieds. In 2024, Bobby Labonte picked up a pair of P8 finishes in the Whelen NASCAR Modified Tour. Those races were at North Wilkesboro and Martinsville.
If you want to see Labonte race more regularly, then check out the SMART Modified Tour. But NASCAR fans can expect to see him line up at Bowman Gray Stadium in February.
The Madhouse Classic is a 125-lap modified race. It will serve as the prelude a day before the NASCAR Clash. The races are being sponsored by Cook Out, which will serve as the title partner for both.
Even at 60 years old, Bobby Labonte is no slouch. He is one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers. He is a Hall of Famer. Between 2022 and 2023, Labonte won four times on the SMART Modified Tour.
Labonte will be going up against the best of the best modified racers at Bowman Gray Stadium. These guys race at the Madhouse week in and week out and know that track by heart. It won’t be an easy race for the 2000 Cup Series champion.

Bobby Labonte enters Cook Out Madhouse Classic
Before Bobby Labonte made his announcement his morning, Cook Out was announced as the entitlement partner for the Clash weekend. Landing an entitlement partner is a big deal for this event, taking place in Cook Out’s backyard.
“It is incredible to have Cook Out as part of this historic weekend at Bowman Gray Stadium,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Venue and Racing Innovation Officer. “Their support takes it to the next level, and we look forward to working with them to make it a weekend that fans will never forget.”
Outside of the fast, easy, and usually (for me) late-night food, Cook Out has put their money where their mouth is when it comes to marketing. They sponsored races at Martinsville, Richmond, and the Southern 500 at Darlington last year.
Bobby Labonte might have a real shot to win. I’m sure he will be ready to throwdown at Bowman Gray. It will get physical on the quarter-mile track, but the racing will be entertaining.
