It’s Players’ Weekend in Major League Baseball. And the league has allowed the players to have a bit of fun, bringing in their own custom-made bats. Bobby Witt, Jr. showed off his bat with Pablo Sanchez on it. Then, he sent one deep with it. He blasted a solo shot against the Cincinnati Reds, hitting his 25th home run of the year.

Here’s a look at the bat below. Then right below it is the clip of his homerun.

Pablo Sanchez is a recurring playable character in the Backyard Sports series.

Bobby Witt is one of the best power hitters in all of Major League Baseball and advanced to the 2024 Home Run Derby Finals. He joins Bo Jackson and Carlos Beltran as the only players in Royals franchise history with consecutive seasons of 25-plus home runs and 25-plus stolen bases. He was named to the 2024 All-Star Game, while also leading the league in triples during the 2023 season.

Witt has been on an absolute tear lately, drilling a 97-mph fastball out of the park. When he connected on the pitch, it was 4.07 feet above the ground, the highest pitch hit for a homer by a Royals player since 2008 when tracking became available.

In 2023, he blasted 30 home runs with 28 doubles, while also bringing in 96 RBIs. In 2022, Witt batted 80 RBIs, six triples, 20 home runs, and also tallied 30 steals. As a base runner, he’s showcased his amazing speed. Witt has tied for the fastest sprint speed in the majors with Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz, at 30.4 feet per second.

On February 5, 2024, he signed an 11-year, $288.7 million contract extension with the Royals. It’s the largest contract in franchise history. The contract includes opt-out options after seven years, eight years, nine years, and ten. There’s also a three-year club option following the 11th season. His father, Bobby Witt, played 16 seasons as a pitcher in the MLB. Bobby, Sr. also serves as a player agent with Octagon Baseball, acting as his son’s advisor.

Outside of baseball, Witt signed an endorsement deal with Whataburger, a San Antonio, Texas based burger restaurant that has several locations in the Kansas City area.
