The Pittsburgh Steelers were getting destroyed in their playoff matchup on Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens. Derrick Henry was running right through them, as he has done to so many opponents over the years. The Ravens were dominating Pittsburgh to the tune of a 21-0 beatdown at halftime. And that left many different people on social media questioning Mike Tomlin and his job security.

ESPN’s Booger McFarland was one of them. He tweeted, “Sometimes the voice in the room gets old and stale.” It was not a pretty picture at halftime. The Baltimore Ravens outgained the Pittsburgh Steelers 308 total yards to 60 total yards.

The Ravens handled the Steelers 28-14. The Steelers will be going home early and finishing with a 10-8 overall record. Baltimore running back Derrick Henry once again showcased that he is one of the greatest football players of all-time, rumbling for 25 carries for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

He was a major acquisition for Baltimore in the offseason and the former Heisman Trophy winner stepped up when his team needed him the most. It’ll be fascinating to see how the Ravens end up the rest of the way and if they can get over the hump.

Plenty of teams across the NFL could be interested in Tomlin

As for Mike Tomlin, there are plenty of teams across the National Football League that want to inquire about his status. ESPN’s Adam Schefter relayed that news on Sunday NFL Countdown.

“I think that there are going to be teams out there that have watched the way that the Pittsburgh Steelers season has ended and wonder whether they should call the Steelers to see if they should inquire about whether the Steelers would be willing to move on from Mike Tomlin and move to another organization,” Schefter said.

“I don’t think Pittsburgh will do that. That has not been what they’ve been about, and there’s no indication that they would. But I do think there are teams wondering whether they should lob in a call, just to see if they could stir Pittsburgh’s interest.”

Tomlin is under contract through the 2027 season, based on a contract extension signed in 2024. However, the Steelers’ coach downplayed the meaning of that extension.

“To be quite honest with you, it just means I don’t have to field questions about it,” Tomlin said. “I’ve seen more days than I am going to see on this job, man. I’m focused on 2024 and have been and that’s my mindset … “Again, I don’t focus on what’s in my rearview. If there’s a secret, the secret is I’m focused on the challenges and tasks at hand and not my resume. I could care less about my resume.”
