Booger McFarland offers clear response to Deion Sanders denying reports on Shedeur Sanders before NFL Draft

ESPN’s Booger McFarland offered a clear response to Deion Sanders’ denial of reports of Shedeur Sanders’ pre-draft process. Essentially, Coach Prime called out those who thought his son was unprofessional and that pre-draft interviews led to the draft slide.
McFarland was on the side of Deion Sanders when it came to defending Shedeur. However, the former NFL defensive tackle offered that two things can be true at once.
“Well, I think it’s the correct reaction,” McFarland said on First Take. “I think it’s a coach, it’s a father defending his son, understanding what he heard, understanding that the Sanders name has kind of been slandered, especially during the pre-draft process, and everybody’s trying to figure out post-draft why Shedeur Sanders slid. Here’s what I’ll say though, I think some of this stuff wasn’t made up … I heard some of the same things that Deion Sanders was talking about … We all have relationships. We all have people who tell us information. They help us prepare to do our job. I heard some of the same things. Some of these things weren’t necessarily made up, at least I don’t think, from the people that I trust who told me these things.
“And so I think two things can be true here. I think the information that was out on Shedeur Sanders came from a lot of people that a lot of people trust, and people think they’re credible. I also think that Deion didn’t believe it, doesn’t believe that his son would do some of the things. I don’t know. I wasn’t in those meetings. I just know, covering this draft, trying to figure out why this young man slid from we all thought he was going to be, at worst, a late first round pick, maybe early second to the fifth round. I think we’re all trying to figure out and piece together why that happened.”

Booger McFarland gives perspective on Deion Sanders defending Shedeur
If the exact reason is still murky, then perhaps we’ll never get to the bottom of Sanders’ draft slide. But McFarland has no problem with what Deion said but treaded lightly.
“But I got no problem with Deion defending his son, because we all got kids, and if our kids were being slandered, or some of the things that were said about Shedeur were being said, we would defend them publicly also,” McFarland said. “Now privately, I’m going to ask my kid to tell me the truth, but publicly, I’m going to make sure I defend his name, our family’s name, and everything that went on.
“And so I understand what Deion is doing, and I probably would have done the same thing, but me, nor you, nor Deion, was in those meetings. And I think we have to take the word he’s got to take the word of his son. And I think the insiders, the people that have the information, that are sharing this information with us, if you trust him, you have to take their word for it also.”
