Boogie Ellis agrees to Exhibit 10 deal with Sacramento Kings

Former USC star Boogie Ellis went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite impressing at the G League Elite Camp in the pre-draft process, the Trojans star did not hear his name called during the first two rounds on Wednesday and Thursday night. It didn’t take him long to find a spot with a new team on Thursday evening, shortly after the draft ended.

He signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to the Trojans Twitter page.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year minimum, salary contract with no other bonuses. The Exhibit 10 deal gives NBA teams the opportunity to convert the contract into a two-way deal, but only if they do so before the start of the regular season. They are usually non-guaranteed, allowing teams to waive a player without taking a cap hit.

After averaging 16.5 points and dishing out 3.0 assists per game this year for the Trojans, Ellis wrapped up his career with USC in impressive fashion. He averaged double digits in each of his last four years with the school, earning second team All-Pac-12 honors in 2023-2024. One of his best games this season came against the Colorado Buffaloes, with the Trojans losing 92-89 in overtime on Feb. 17. Ellis erupted for 30 points, five assists, and four rebounds, showcasing his ability as one of the premiere scorers in the Pac-12.

Ellis played high school basketball at Mission Bay High School in San Diego (CA) where he was a four-star prospect ranked the No. 38 overall recruit and the No. 7 in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-3 guard started off his collegiate career at Memphis, where he spent two seasons before transferring to USC to close out his college career under head coach Andy Enfield. Averaging 17.1 points, 3.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game in the final two seasons of his college career before declaring for the NBA Draft in April.

The G League Elite Camp is two days long and consists of strength and agility drills along with five-on-five games on each day. Games that Ellis took full advantage of and performed well in, highlighted by a game-leading 23 points on day one along with four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Displaying dominance on both ends of the floor amongst some of the NBA’s top prospects.

Ellis also impressed in the agility and shooting drills, making 22 of his 25 three-point attempts during a shooting drill at Wintrust Arena.

“Amped,” Ellis said when asked how he was feeling heading into Elite Camp. “I’m definitely ready. I’ve been working my whole life for this opportunity. So definitely just ready to get started and ready to get this show on the road.”
