FSU is coming off a tough loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (24-21) in their season-opener, in which their offense looked like it was still trying to figure out its identity. Seminoles quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggled to hit deep shots down the field, with most of his completions coming in close proximity to the line of scrimmage. He completed 19 of his 27 passes for 193 yards with no touchdowns.

Boston College has one of the nation’s most dynamic dual threat quarterbacks in Thomas Castellanos. Last year, he threw for over 2,100 yards and ran for over 950 yards. Through the air he threw 15 touchdown passes with 13 interceptions. On the ground, he had 11 touchdowns. He’s one of the nation’s most dynamic signal-callers and the Seminoles will figure out how to slow him down. They struggled with Haynes King in their season-opener, also a dual-threat quarterback. During his two years of college football, Castellanos has already racked up 1,233 yards and 14 total touchdowns on the ground.

While Castellanos was the Eagles’ leading rusher last year, Kye Robichaux did some solid damage in 2023, rushing for 780 yards and eight touchdowns. He’ll be yet another piece the Seminoles will have to be aware of in the matchup.

The FSU defensive line will have to continue to answer some questions. They were expected to be one of the nation’s best in 2024, but Georgia Tech still gashed them for 190 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. To be fair, the Yellow Jackets have one of the most experienced and talented offensive lines in the ACC and they played like it in the season opener.

The Seminoles will drop in the new AP poll, which be released again after the Week 1 games wrap up on Sept. 3.
