Last night when the NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400 was under a red flag, everyone came to a standstill, except for Brad Keselowski, that is. The RFK driver-owner didn’t stay still under the red flag and for good reason. His car was catching on fire and smoke entered the cockpit, quickly.

Knowing that he couldn’t drive around the track, Brad Keselowski pulled off to the side on the backstretch and started to pull tight circles. While the driver knew what he was doing the entire time, that didn’t stop fans from wondering what in the world they were watching.

Just look at how hilarious this is. It is almost like Keselowski had lost his mind and decided to just drive around like a madman.

Brad Keselowski went on to push his driver and teammate, Chris Buescher to the win. The 6 car, not on fire, was able to finish P2. It was a great race for RFK overall and another massive statement before the playoffs.

That doesn’t make this any less funny.

“I was sitting there under red flag, it just started smoking really big out of the left front rocker panel,” Keselowski said after the race. “I knew that meant it was about to catch fire and I was going to get knocked out of the race.

The only way to stop that was to get air moving through the car. Being under red flag, I had to improvise. There was a pad at the bottom of the racetrack. I knew I couldn’t drive around the racetrack without getting in serious trouble, but I figured I could get away with driving on that pad. I just ran on that pad until the flames and the smoke disappeared and called it good.”

Brad Keselowski pushes Chris Buescher to third win

Every time that we have seen Chris Buescher win, Brad Keselowski has been close behind. Those RFK cars hit on the same days and when they do, it produces some great results. With wins at Richmond, Michigan, and now Daytona – Buescher appears to be a championship favorite.

Just think about it, not only has he won on a superspeedway, but also on a short and intermediate track. Not to mention, he’s one of the most consistent road course drivers in the Cup Series. Once in the last two years has Buescher failed to score a top-10 finish on the road.

While Brad Keselowski would have loved to have won, this one seemed to mean more for RFK. Sure, you hit on back-to-back weeks, whatever. But to then win a third race at Daytona of all places? And you did it going all the way to the line in overtime?

Another win for RFK. We are heading into the playoffs now, and that means the intensity just ramps up from here.
