A controversial ARCA Menards Series finish at Phoenix between Brent Crews and Butterbean Queen has Brad Keselowski feeling dirty. Crews beat out Butterbean in an overtime restart by giving the door to his rival.

Overtime restarts – it is something you only see in NASCAR and ARCA. At least in NASCAR, it is a two-lap shootout. In ARCA, drivers only get a single lap. Brent Crews did what he had to do to win over Butterbean Queen, that’s for sure.

After watching the finish, Brad Keselowski chimed in. The 41-year-old NASCAR Cup champion didn’t know how to feel about the overtime chaos.

“As a racer, I feel so conflicted watching overtime races,” Keselowski posted online. “Definitely very entertaining and compelling to watch, but I know how hard everyone works at this and can’t help but feel guilty seeing someone lose out on a good day like that…”

Was the contact from Crews overt? No, I don’t think so. But it was enough to push Butterbean into the wall.

Then again, Butterbean opened the bottom lane up for Crews to take on that last corner. Had he pinched down on Crews and closed up that gap, it might have given him what he needed to win.

Brad Keselowski has seen what overtime restarts can do. They can make or break a driver. This time around, Butterbean was the one broken while Crews was made. Balls and strikes, winners and losers.

Brad Keselowski not the only one unsure about ARCA finish

You don’t have to look far to see more than a few people questioning that finish at Phoenix. It just makes you feel like something wrong happened and no one is doing anything to stop it.

After the race, Brad Keselowski was not the only one with concerns. Of course, Butterbean didn’t appreciate the finish. But he also reflected on his own performance.

“Honestly, I’m not – I don’t want to say nothing to get myself in trouble,” Butterbean Queen said to Josh Sims after the race. “Just frustrating, only way they’d beat us was knock us out of the way, you know. Honestly, I’m just gonna look at it as I got to do a better job on that restart. In my defense, I should never have let him get close enough. I gave him the bottom into [Turn] One to try to not get hit because he had such a run off of [Turn] Two because I cleared him. Almost wish I wouldn’t have cleared him, maybe and stayed door to door and I could have ran him up the hill or something.

“Just frustrating. … You know we’ll analyze this, and I’m not going to look at it as what he did. I’m gonna look at what I can do better because, you know, just don’t let him get close enough. Honestly, it sucks because it’s a one-lap shootout, so they’re going to be close to you. But super happy with this Pinnacle Racing Group. I mean, they knew we were here, and good points tonight, you know. I’m, you know, obviously, we’ll just get ready for the next one.”
