Brad Keselowski reveals NASCAR 'back to the drawing board' on changes to superspeedway package

RFK Racing helped NASCAR test high-speed packages at Michigan earlier this year, and Brad Keselowski is opening up about the test. Most notably, officials have opted not to make any changes to the superspeedway package ahead of this weekend’s race at Talladega.

Going back to 2023, blowover flips have become a concern in the NASCAR Cup Series. There were a number of flips last season even with NASCAR adding new parts and bits to the car in order to keep the cars on the ground.

Still, we saw earlier this year at Daytona, Ryan Preece flipped. Again. Preece’s boss at RFK Racing, Brad Keselowski, talked about the test recently with the media at Talladega.

“RFK [Racing] was part of the test at Michigan probably three or four weeks ago, where we explored different options to help the cars at track at very high speed and Michigan is very speed,” Keselowski said, via Kelly Crandall of RACER. “The options, unfortunately, didn’t pan out that NASCAR had worked to develop, so it wasn’t a surprise that there weren’t any changes.

“I knew there was effort being put into it and, candidly, not everything you try is gonna work, but I appreciate that there was effort put into it and I think there’s very much a back to the drawing board mentality. I don’t feel like it’s not being worked on, but we’re not gonna skip the race just because we haven’t figured something out, so the show goes on.”

Ryan Preece is probably hoping that something is done about the superspeedway package. NASCAR fans are likely wondering, what about the short tracks?

Brad Keselowski has seen a lot of changes in drafting racing. He is one of the best ever, especially at Talladega.

In his Cup Series career, Talladega has helped define Brad Keselowski. It was the site of his first-ever win in Cup, and he has picked up six total wins. The last two times at Dega, Keselowski has been the runner-up. He has had three P2 finishes since his last win at the track in the Spring of 2021.

He has been so close the last year. We know the wins are far and few between for Keselowski in the Next Gen car. We also know that he has struggled immensely in 2025. Nine races in and the No. 6 team has no top-10s to show for it.

Keselowski sits at P31 in points right now. He is ahead of Noah Gragson and below Erik Jones. There are only five full-time drivers doing worse this season and two of them are rookies.

If there was any weekend that Brad Keselowski needed to show up and get a win, it’s this one. Punching that ticket to the playoffs can ease a lot of the tensions currently going on with that team.
