NASCAR suspended a crew member for Brad Keselowski‘s RFK Racing team for violating the sport’s substance abuse policy. Josiah Wright, a rear-tire changer for Keselowski’s No. 6 Ford, has been suspended indefinitely.

Wright is one of two crew members to be suspended for substance abuse. NASCAR also announced that it has suspended Corbin Sklener, a tire carrier for GK Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series and jackman for Mike Harmon Racing in the Xfinity Series.

The news comes as Brad Keselowski finished 11th at the Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. It’s his best finish so far this year, which has been a challenging one for the veteran driver. Along with the rough finishes at key races, Keselowski was placed on a stretcher following a cool suit failure at COTA.

“After his cool suit failed during today’s race, [Brad Keselowski] went to the infield care center to get some IV fluids,” RFK Racing said in a social media post earlier this month. “Can confirm he is feeling much better now.”

Will another title come for Brad Keselowski?

Keselowski’s slow start isn’t a big surprise for one expert. Before the start of the season, Kevin Harvick predicted that another championship wouldn’t be coming for Keselowski anytime soon.

“I don’t think we ever see another championship out of Keselowski,” Harvick said on the Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour podcast. “I think one of the big question marks that I have, is Brad Keselowski ever going to get back to what he was at Penske? And I think he’s done a great job at RFK. But as the driver, I think he’s going to continue to make an impact at RFK with structure, organization, racing common sense and all the things that come with that.

“But I just, you know, we’ve seen flashes of brilliance out of that car over the past few years. And now you’ve got a crew chief change. And they added another car. I think Chris Buescher has outperformed him over the last couple years for sure.”

Keselowski has won 36 Cup Series races and earned 263 top-10 finishes in 557 starts. He won the Cup Series title in 2012 and finished second in 2020.
