The Dallas Cowboys will be without a key contributor for the next four games with wide receiver Brandin Cooks headed to the injured reserve.
ESPN’s Todd Archer reported the news, which was relayed by insider Adam Schefter.
Cooks was fourth on the team in receiving, having logged nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. Cooks also had two carries for two yards.
The talented receiver suffered a knee injury in a game against the New York Giants, and more details have since been revealed.
According to Jane Slater of the NFL Network, the Cowboys were aware of the injections that Cooks was undergoing after the Giants game. The knee got infected, and when Cooks returned to Dallas, Dan Cooper (the team doctor) scoped the knee to clean out the infection and smooth out the meniscus issue.

“Brandin should feel great in 1-3 weeks,” a source told Slater.
Coach Mike McCarthy commented on Brandin Cooks’ status this week, though he offered few particulars.
“Brandin Cooks has a knee issue. He will not be available this week,” McCarthy said in Wednesday’s press conference, per the Cowboys’ official website. “I don’t talk about specific player injuries. The specifics should be answered by the players. But he will not be available.”
Cooks has been dealing with knee issues since training camp, which led him to miss a few practices. He has played in every game this season.
Cooks is in his second year with the Cowboys after spending three seasons with the Houston Texans. Since joining the NFL in 2014, Brandin Cooks has also played for the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.
