Brandon Aiyuk's agent fires back at claims WR requested trade from 49ers: 'You need better sources'
The agent of San Francisco 49ers star wideout Brandon Aiyuk took to X on Sunday to deny a report that his client requested a trade from the organization.
“You need better sources,” wrote Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, in response to a report from NFL insider John Frascella.
Aiyuk, entering the final year of his rookie contract, has been a trendy name on the trade market this offseason. The 49ers picked up Aiyuk’s fifth-year option last offseason, guaranteeing him $14.12 million in 2024. He is currently scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
Aiyuk, the 2020 first-round pick out of Arizona State, is coming off his best season to date. He hauled in 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns this past season. Aiyuk earned a second-team All-Pro nomination. For his career, he has tallied 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 scores.
John Lynch reveals 49ers’ feelings of Brandon Aiyuk
49ers general manager John Lynch said at the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando last month that the team is working on figuring out a way to make Aiyuk a 49er for the foreseeable future.

“We’re actively talking with Brandon trying to figure something out,” Aiyuk. “We have a good history of working with the guys we want to get done to get something done and it takes two sides. So, can we do that? We’ll see. There’s a number of different directions that it could go but we appreciate the heck out of Brandon and who he is as a player, and we want him to be a part of the Niners. We’re going to work towards making that a reality.”
Lynch added: “There’s nothing better than drafting a guy, developing a guy, watching him flourish and then rewarding him. That’s really what we love to do and he’s a great illustration of that. Brandon came in a really good player, but [head coach] Kyle Shanahan has a high standard for receivers, so it wasn’t just instant. Aiyuk is a great example of what can happen when you mix that ability, talent, drive with real high expectations. He has become a tremendous player. He has earned everything that is going to come his way, and we’re really proud of him for that.
“I’m thankful to our ownership for allowing us to be aggressive but also thoughtful with how we construct things. There’s no doubt that because we’ve been aggressive so much that there are some realities that we’re going to be faced with. We just can’t have everybody. Brandon is somebody we would love to keep around.”
