Brandon Aiyuk injury update: 49ers update WR status after being carted off
San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk is out for the remainder of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with a knee injury, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.
Aiyuk had to be carted off after suffering a gruesome-looking hit near the end of the first half. His right knee appeared to move in a very concerning direction and he remained down on the field for several moments.
Based on the way his knee bent inward, Aiyuk is at great risk of having suffered an ACL or MCL injury. We’ll hope for the best as an update on the severity likely won’t come until Monday when tests have been run.
Aiyuk had two catches for 23 yards prior to his exit. He is one of three receivers now out for the 49ers as Deebo Samuel (illness) also left the game and Jauan Jennings (hip) was ruled out prior to kickoff.
Aiyuk signed a four-year contract extension worth $120 million prior to the start of this season. He ranked second on the team with 23 catches for 351 yards entering Sunday’s contest.
Despite being down several key players due to injury, the 49ers have managed to keep it close with Kansas City. They currently trail 21-12 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Deebo Samuel exits game vs. Chiefs due to illness
San Francisco 49ers (3-3) receiver Deebo Samuel exited to the locker room during Sunday’s Week 7 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs (5-0).
Samuel came into the game dealing with an illness, and it appears to be the reason for his early exit.
Samuel, 28, came down with an illness during pregame drills, but decided to give it a go. Early in the game, he was seen on the sideline wearing an oxygen mask and consulting with a doctor. The 49ers are already without Jauan Jennings (hip) and Brandon Aiyuk has since suffered a right leg injury.
Samuel came into Sunday’s game San Francisco’s third leading receiver, having hauled in 20 receptions for 335 yards and one touchdown.
