Brandon Miller posterizes Walker Kessler with one-handed slam

Former Alabama Crimson Tide star and No. 2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft Brandon Miller just committed a vicious Iron Bowl of Basketball crime and Saturday evening showdown between the Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz.
Early in the second quarter, Miller caught a dish from Hornets point guard Ish Smith while on the far left wing of the court. That is where the former Crimson Tide star delivered a smooth shimmy shake to Kelly Olynyk on the outside and proceeded to drive baseline. At the rim, he was met by former Auburn Tigers big man Walker Kessler, who attempted to prevent the slam. But the only thing Walker received was a facial courtesy of the Charlotte rookie.
You can check out Miller’s shake, drive, and poster in the video below.
That throwdown would be about as good as it got for Miller and the Hornets despite being on their home court. Utah opened the game, nearly doubling Charlotte’s points in the first quarter, 47-24. Things wouldn’t get much better for Charlotte in the second quarter as Utah outpaced them by 12 points to take a 35-point lead into the half, leading 82-47. Despite a valiant and hard push in the second half, the 35-point lead was too much for the Hornets to overcome as they would eventually fall to the Jazz 134-122.

As for Miller’s performance and the game, it was a rough night shooting for the rookie. The former Crimson Tide forward finished the game with 12 points on 6 of 18 shooting from the field. Adding insult to injury, Miller failed to make a single three-point basket, going 0-7 from beyond the ark.
The lone bright spot for Charlotte in the game came from another former SEC standout, former Kentucky forward PJ Washington. Washington did not start the game but finished it as the leading scorer on the night with a wildly efficient 43-point performance. The former Wildcat connected on 17 of his 22 field goal attempts and was a blazing 7-9 from beyond the ark and 2-3 from the charity stripe.
