Bret Holmes Racing announces closure of NASCAR Truck Series team effective immediately
A little bit of unfortunate news. Bret Holmes Racing has closed up shop, effective immediately, with only three races left in the year. The NASCAR organization made the announcement this afternoon.
Bret Holmes, 2020 ARCA Menards Series champion, has been doing his own thing for a number of years. For the last four years, he has raced part-time and full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The journey has come to an end for Bret Holmes Racing. However, Holmes himself is still looking for driving opportunities for 2025. It just won’t be under his own banner.
“As of today, Bret Holmes Racing has made the difficult decision to close our doors and will not be returning to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for the 2024 or 2025 season,” the team said in a statement.
“To all of our fans, sponsors, friends, families – and most importantly our team – we thank you for all the support and commitment shown to BHR around every turn. We appreciate each and every one of you for the roles you played in making each race day memorable.
“Following the closing of BHR, Bret Holmes looks to continue racing in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.”
Bret Holmes has overcome a lot in his racing career. It is not easy to operate and race for your own organization. ARCA is filled with heavy hitters at the top and his 2020 championship was a moment where the little guys prevailed for once in modern racing.

While BHR is closing, Holmes could land somewhere for 2025. At 27 years old, he has a lot of racing ahead of him if he finds the right opportunities.
Bret Holmes Racing closing before Homestead-Miami
It isn’t a shock that a small team like this would close after three two full-time seasons. However, it is a shock to see Bret Holmes Racing close with three races left in the season. Right now, the Truck Series is practicing and qualifying at Homestead-Miami.
There are only three more chances for drivers to get a win this season. Two more chances for playoff drivers to lock themselves into the Championship 4 in Phoenix. Holmes was not part of that championship chase, but it s still surprising to see the team pull the plug at this time.
Right now, the NASCAR world is wondering if Corey Heim or Christian Eckes are going to become Truck Series champion. Then again, there are six other drivers who will be trying to prevent either of them from reaching that goal.
Hopefully, no matter who makes the Championship 4, we get a better race than in 2023. Phoenix was a mess in the Truck Series a year ago, and a repeat of that would be a disaster.
