Brian Daboll: Tommy DeVito 'expected to start' Week 15 against Ravens, Drew Lock 'is in a walking boot'
The New York Giants quarterback situation has been messy all season long, and that won’t change in Week 15, according to head coach Brian Daboll.
On Wednesday, the franchise’s leader told reporters that sophomore quarterback Tommy DeVito “is expected to start” this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens, as Drew Lock, who’s been starting the last two weeks, “is in a walking boot due to a heel injury.”
“Giants HC Brian Daboll told reporters that QB Drew Lock is in a walking boot due to a heel injury and Tommy DeVito now is expected to start Sunday vs. the Ravens,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter relayed.
There’s been uncertainty at the position for the Giants since they decided to move on from longtime quarterback Daniel Jones. As the football world now knows, Jones was benched and subsequently cut by the franchise, later signing with the Minnesota Vikings as a member of the team’s practice squad.
Since, DeVito was called upon to start the first game in the post-Jones era for New York. He wasn’t awful in his only game as a starter in 2024 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, passing for 189 yards and completing 21-of-31 passes, but the game was well out of hand before halftime rolled around due to the Giants’ defense not playing up to par.

Unfortunately, DeVito suffered an injury against the Buccaneers, and Lock was then thrust into the role of being the starting quarterback. He’s played in two games, losses against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, and a close disappointment against the New Orleans Saints this past weekend.
All told, Lock has been solid at times, but he’s still yet to throw a touchdown, although he has a rushing touchdowns for the Giants.
Regardless of who’s at quarterback, the Giants have looked inept for much of the 2024 season, and sweeping changes seem to be on the way. Perhaps Tommy DeVito will make this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens interesting, but New York is a two-touchdown home underdog, and it’s not looking very promising at the moment.
