Brian Robinson explains emotional reaction to completing important practice drill

Brian Robinson is slowly working his way back into playing shape after the shooting that has taken him away from the start of the NFL season. The Commander’s rookie RB has done a lot of rehab in order to be back in drills with his teammates. After getting back out on the field with Washington on Wednesday, he was visibly excited during practice.
Robinson spoke about his positivity on the field after a specific drill during media yesterday. He said it comes from a place of relief that he’s still able to do what he could be before. It’s also about gratitude because he’s still able to play the sport he loves at all.

“I did that because that was just the first thing. God was first. I had to put him first,” said Robinson. “(During) that running back drill, I was forced to do a few movements and cuts in that drill that I wasn’t completely confident in before walking out on the field. After doing the drill, it just helped me gain more confidence in myself. By the time I finished the drill, I knew that I was at least where I needed to be, if not a little bit further, as far as the progress I’ve made.”
After being shot back in August, Robinson has taken the necessary steps to return to the franchise in good time. Washington officially cleared him on Monday and being back on the gridiron thrilled Robinson throughout Wednesday’s practice.

“I was just having fun. I had to spend a little over a month away from football. That’s not the longest time period I’ve been away from football but, for the circumstances, I was just so happy to be back out there. I was excited,” Robinson said. “I’m a high, football-energy person. I’m excited when I’m on the football field, regardless if I was coming off an injury or whatnot. Just excited to be back out there. I just wanted to do a little bit more just to prove to myself that I can do it and just continue to gain the confidence I need to step back out on that field.”
There’s no hint yet as to when Brian Robinson could return to actual game action just yet. His NFL debut will be a welcome one, though, in the aftermath of an event that nearly ensured that it would never come.
