Almost a month after her father John Force suffered a traumatic brain injury during a crash in Virginia, Brittany Force is back in action. NHRA fans can catch her this weekend in Seattle for the NHRA Northwest Nationals.
Pacific Raceways is hosting the NHRA for the weekend. Brittany Force also returns to her Top Fuel dragster with Flav-R-Pac on her Chevy. Her father, John Force, is receiving treatment. Brittany and other family and friends have been by his side throughout the last month.
This is the first race weekend for Brittany since her father was injured. She missed out on Norwalk but managed to remain in the top-10 in the standings.
“I’m glad to get back to the racetrack after a few tough few weeks,” said the 38-year-old, via NHRA.com. “It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for our family since Richmond, but my dad has made great progress, and we are all so proud of him. He has transferred now to a rehabilitation center closer to home.
“I want to thank [crew chief] David Grubnic, John Collins, and my team for their patience and support of my decision to stay with my father while racing continued in Norwalk,” she said. “Missing a race was tough, but I needed to be with my dad and family.”
The motorsports world was shocked when John Force wrecked at over 300 MPH in Virginia. It was a wreck that included multiple hard impacts with the inside and outside walls. Force, 75 years old, is a legend in NHRA and racing as a whole.

Brittany Force has stood by her father
It was eleven days ago when Brittany Force offered an update on her father. He had been recovering in the hospital and the family was working on getting him moved to a rehabilitation facility.
A couple of days after that update, Force was moved into a rehab center. With his TBI and the effects, he is going to have a long road to recovery. The family is staying positive, but there is a lot to process at this time.
“However, medical staff cautioned that the road ahead still is a difficult one. Force is dealing with cognitive and behavioral symptoms from the TBI,” John Force Racing provided in an update on July 9. “And while he has been able to converse with family and staff, enjoy the company of grandsons Jacob and Noah Hood and celebrate a Monday birthday with daughter Brittany, he still is prone to periods of confusion. Family members said that no timetable had been established for the length of Force’s stay at the new facility which was selected because of its success in treating other race car drivers with similar issues.”
Thoughts and prayers are with John Force, Brittany Force, their entire family and race team. Let’s hope the good news keeps coming for the 16-time champion.
