Brock Bowers escorted off field with injury following possible helmet-to-helmet hit
Las Vegas rookie tight end Brock Bowers has wasted little time in impressing early in the National Football League. Bowers has looked like the dominant prospect he was in college in his rookie season with the Raiders. Unfortunately for Bowers, he was escorted off the field with an injury following a possible helmet-to-helmet hit.
Here’s the video of the play.
After being evaluated for a concussion, Bowers appeared to be okay and returned to the game after halftime. Last week against Baltimore, he had nine catches for 98 yards and no touchdowns. In Week 1 against the LA Chargers Bowers hauled in eight catches for 58 yards and a touchdown.
The Raiders are getting whipped by the Panthers on Sunday. Backup quarterback Andy Dalton has been putting on quite the show for Carolina. And Bowers just has one catch for 21 yards.
Antonio Pierce on the potential of Brock Bowers
“We knew we was getting a blue chipper. It was just, he did it Day 1 at Georgia. When he walked on campus and did it each and every game, each and every year. And he got here, rookie minicamp and you’re just, you know, don’t have pads on, ain’t going to put pads until training camp. It was like, ‘Alright.’ Then we slowed him down a little bit, because he was pushing himself and to be honest with you, we knew what we got. Just didn’t want to speak on it until he did it,” Pierce explained.

Now that Bowers has flashed his immense upside on an NFL field, though, Pierce is happy to rave about the football player he is.

“Now it’s out there and there’s no hiding it — he’s a really good football player. He’s tough, he loves the game, he doesn’t care how he looks, how he talks, he just wants to play ball and that fits our mentality.”
At Georgia, he was the main tight end when he was on the field. Despite missing three games in 2023 due to an ankle injury, Bowers still caught 56 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns. On the block, he helped the Bulldogs offensive line lead the rushing attack to 2,677 yards from scrimmage to go with 40 touchdowns on the year.
Bowers knows what it takes to win as well. During his time at Georgia, Bowers never lost a regular season game while helping the team reach the SEC title game in each of the last three seasons. In total, he caught 175 passes for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns during his college career.
