Brock Bowers makes history breaking rookie TE record vs. Buccaneers
Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) tight end Brock Bowers has set the all-time record for most receptions in a single season by a rookie tight end.
Bowers, who hauled in three catches for 49 yards in Sunday’s 28-13 Week 14 road defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6), passed the Detroit Lions’ (12-1) Sam LaPorta to break the record. LaPorta had 86 receptions as a rookie last season, and Bowers now has 87 with still four games remaining in his first campaign in the NFL.
Bowers, the first-round selection out of Georgia, is now 19 receptions from breaking Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams’ (6-6) record for the all-time rookie mark for most receptions (105) in a single-season. Like LaPorta, Nacua became the record-holder in 2023.

Brock Bowers putting together all-time rookie season
Bowers has been as advertised since entering the league and has continued to produce at a high clip despite the Raiders’ struggles on offense this season. As head coach Antonio Pierce said last week, Bowers has simply been dominant.
“Just dominant,” Pierce said. “Obviously, one of the better players on our team. Keep finding a way to find him the ball. The bigger the moment, the bigger the rookie stands up and makes plays. It’s impressive to watch, especially late in the ballgame, making really big plays for us, tough catches. Really good ballplayer.”
