Russell Wilson is celebrating restoration season by sharing a video of some of intense workouts off the field. Will these exercises revive his career? Give it a big we’ll see.

On Saturday, he gave fans a glimpse of what he’s been doing in the way of exercise when he’s not working out at Broncos headquarters. The video is only a 39-second taste, using Nipsey Hussle’s “Grinding All My Life” as the soundtrack.

In most of the video, the Broncos quarterback is using sliding exercises with weight training. He almost looks like a speed skater (who catches footballs) as he manuvers between lanes. Take a look at Russell Wilson at his sweaty best,

Russell Wilson says he feels ‘better than ever’

Russell Wilson updated reporters last month in regards to his fitness progress.

“You always want to be in the best shape of your life,” he said at a media availability. “I’m ready for that. I feel better than ever.”

There’s no question that Wilson needs a bounce back. He suffered through a dreadful year in 2022 after he forced the Seahawks into trading him to Denver. The Broncos gave him a $245 million, five-year deal to produce many more wins. The season started with the Broncos road game against Seattle. Wilson’s former fans showed their disapproval by burning their jerseys and booing him throughout the game.

From there, the quarterback couldn’t avoid the harsh glare of an unforgiving league spotlight. There were stories about his demands of an office, an entourage, an assigned parking place at Broncos headquarters. Wilson won only four games as a starter. Although he did throw for 3,524 yards, he only posted 16 touchdown passes against 11 interceptions. His quarterback rating was 84.4, the lowest of his 11-year career. He’s only dropped below 100 four times. But before 2022, he previously low was 92.6.

Big ouch: Wilson sacked 55 times in 2022

However, it wasn’t all Russell Wilson’s fault. The Broncos allowed a team record 63 sacks, with Wilson the victim of 55 of them. Denver addressed the issues this offseason. The Broncos signed Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers, two of the better offensive linemen available via free agency. They also signed center Kyle Fuller and selected Alex Forsyth in the seventh round of April’s draft.

Denver fired coach Nathaniel Hackett and replaced him with Sean Payton, who helped develop Drew Brees‘ career. Then Payton hired Davis Webb, who is six years younger than Wilson, to be the Broncos new quarterback coach. Here’s a fun fact on Webb. His presence at Texas Tech forced Baker Mayfield to transfer. But Webb lost his starting job to Patrick Mahomes two seasons later.

To close OTAs earlier this week, Payton talked about how he evaluates.

“It seems like every day on Twitter, we are grading something,” Payton told reporters. “We’re grading drafts, or we’re grading offseason programs. I’m not putting a grade on it. I’m pleased with our attendance, and I’m pleased with our health right now.

“I think the guys are working hard, and yet, it’s June. We have a lot of work ahead of us. We will be anxious when the time comes and when training camp comes to get started. We’ll go from there.”

And Russell Wilson will continue with his restoration project.
