After making his professional debut on Tuesday, the next topic surrounding Bronny James was how long he’d remain with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin, there’s now an answer with their report being that he’ll begin his assignment in the G-League after the upcoming five-game road trip for LA.

“Lakers rookie guard Bronny James is expected to start G League-NBA shuttle after upcoming five-game road trip,” Charania tweeted on Friday.

“Bronny James is expected to travel on the team’s upcoming road trip from Oct. 28-Nov. 6 and then begin shuttling between the active roster and the franchise’s South Bay G League affiliate, sources told ESPN on Friday,” they wrote.

That would be just under two weeks for James to remain with the active roster for Los Angeles. In that span, the Lakers would play a total of seven games. Two more are at home against the Phoenix Suns tonight and then the Sacramento Kings before those next five on the road. However, one of those five would include a homecoming for the James family with a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers next week on October 30th. They’ll also play the Suns again along with the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies.

LeBron James and Bronny James made history in the Lakers’ opener on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. When they checked in with one another, they became the first father-son duo to play together in the NBA. With that, they joined Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. as the only other pair to do so in the history of pro sports.

After entering the games, Bronny played a total of three minutes where he didn’t score on two shot attempts but had an offensive rebound. LeBron then finished the night with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in the 110-103 win over the Wolves.

This has been one of the biggest stories in the association since Los Angeles selected James in the 2024 NBA Draft. Now, with the moment out of the way, the franchise can begin to develop him best by moving him to and from the G-League and their roster in the NBA.
