Browns HC Kevin Stefanski says team has no plans to add another kicker despite Cade York's struggles
Cade York was without a doubt, one of the best kickers in college football during his time with the LSU Tigers. The man played like he had freon coursing through his veins during his time at Baton Rouge, firmly cementing his status as one of the best kickers in school history.
York earned second team All-American honors his senior year, the same season that he drilled a 57-yard game-winning field goal in the fog to defeat the No. 6 ranked Florida Gators in the Swamp. Because of his impressive college resume, the Cleveland Browns decided to spend a fourth-round pick on him in the 2022 NFL Draft. For whatever the reason may be, York has not lived up to the hype in the NFL.
His first season was marred by inconsistency and misses. Browns’ fans patience has to be wearing even thinner with him, after he missed not one, but two potential game-winning field goals on Thursday evening against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said following the game that the franchise has no plans to add another kicker, despite his kicker’s struggles, per Ari Meirov of the33rdteam.com.
At halftime, York was sharing highlights of himself on his Instagram page during the Eagles-Browns game. Then, after he missed a potential game-winning field goal twice, he decided to delete the post. The Eagles were called for illegal formation after one of his misses and then he missed a second time. The game ended in a 18-18 tie.

Missing not one, but two 47-yard field goal attempts on back-to-back occasions is a definite problem for the Cleveland Browns, whether Kevin Stefanski wants to admit it or not. The first one was pushed right. The second one he pulled left. There was no wind, and the weather was fine. The snap and holds on both kicks were excellent, too.
For his sake, hopefully he figures out a solution to his struggles, or else the Browns will be forced to look for other options. He was such a highly productive college kicker; it simply doesn’t make any logical sense for him to be struggling like he has.
Cade York was one of the greatest kickers in LSU history
York was a savant for LSU, with a booming and accurate leg. During his time with the Tigers, the kicker made 54 of his 66 field goal attempts. Additionally, York was 15 of 19 on kicks from 50 yards or further, booming the 57-yard game winner against Florida.
As far as extra-points, the former Tigers kicker was near perfect, sinking 164 of 168 extra-point attempts for LSU.
