Browns running back D'Onta Foreman released from hospital, thanks fans after scary injury
Browns running back D’Onta Foreman, who suffered a scary injury Thursday, was released from the hospital. He’s now thanking Cleveland fans for the support.
Using his Instagram Stories, Foreman said: “I wanna say THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart to everyone who reached out to me and or prayed for me. … I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared/nervous earlier, but GOD was with me and those prayers.”
Browns practicing at West Virginia resort in mountains
The Browns are conducting several days of training camp at The Greenbrier, a resort located in White Sulphur Springs, WV, in the Allegheny Mountains. During a practice session Thursday morning, Foreman took a direct blow to the head and suffered neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff then immediately immobilized Foreman’s neck and back.
The team issued a statement saying that Foreman was placed in an ambulance then airlifted to a hospital in Roanoke, Va. Doctors said he had movement in all extremities.
Later Thursday, the Browns said Foreman would be released from the hospital that day., which definitely was good news for the power back.
Cleveland signed Foreman as its short-yardage, goal-line back
The Browns already are thin at running back. Cleveland signed Foreman, the former Texas Longhorn and Doak Walker winner, for short-yardage and goal-line carries. Foreman is an NFL nomad. The Browns are his eighth team. The Texans originally selected him in the third round (89th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

During his final season with the Longhorns in 2016, Foreman rushed for 2,028 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Browns signed him to fill the role vacated by Kareem Hunt. Nick Chubb, the Brown’s main back, has yet to be cleared to return to full practice. He also suffered a scary injury last September when Cleveland took on the Steelers for a Thursday Night Football game. Two Steelers defenders sandwiched Chubb and his knee buckled. The TV producers of the game would not show a replay of the injury. Chubb needed multiple surgeries to repair ligaments and cartilage in his knee.
The Browns may need to sign another running back if Foreman is out for an extended period of time. Hunt left Cleveland in free agency, but he has yet to sign with another team.
Injuries hit the Browns hard last fall. Chubb was one of the first to go down. But the team also had issues with keeping quarterbacks healthy. Deshaun Watson needed shoulder surgery, which ended his season. But the Browns signed 38-year-old Joe Flacco, who’d been out of the NFL, to help them fight for a playoff spot. Cleveland made it, but lost to the Texans in the wildcard round of the playoffs.
