Bryce Young raves about Anthony Richardson's performance at NFL Combine
Although he didn’t participate in any workouts at the NFL Combine on Saturday, Bryce Young got a front-row seat to the performance of the day. Former Florida star Anthony Richardson stole the show with his jumps, 40-yard dash and his deep ball — and it came as no surprise to his former SEC rival.
Young spoke highly of Richardson’s performance, which included a 4.43 official time in the 40-yard dash and new records in both the broad jump and the vertical. Although the two never faced off as starters, Young saw plenty of Richardson on film, which is why the former Alabama star knew the ex-Gator had it in him.
“I don’t know if what Ant did was surprising to anyone, but it definitely wasn’t for me,” Young told NFL Network’s Jamie Erdahl. “Obviously, all the athletic stuff, we’ve seen that. We’ve seen all the amazing plays. Being in the SEC, I watched a lot of his games, and I’ve seen how gifted he is, how talented he is as a passer, too.
“All the great throws he made today, it wasn’t a surprise for me. It wasn’t a shock. I watched a lot of reps of him, so I know just how good he is. How well he performed today, it doesn’t surprise me at all.”

Richardson raised plenty of eyebrows with a 40.5″ vertical jump and a 10’9″ broad jump — topping the previous quarterback marks in both events. Then, he stepped up to the 40-yard dash and ran it in 4.43 seconds. From there, he stepped up and showed off his arm strength with deep ball after deep ball.
However, he thinks he could’ve done even better.
“Definitely not satisfied. I was aiming for 41 [inches]. But I guess I’ll take 40.5,” Richardson said of his vertical.
As for his 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump?
“Definitely disappointed with that,” Richardson said. “Thought I was going to get 11. But it is what it is.”
