Bryson DeChambeau: Rory McIlroy ‘wouldn’t talk to me’ during Masters final round

Bryson DeChambeau revealed he didn’t talk to Rory McIlroy during the final round of the 2025 Masters. After the tournament, DeChambeau was asked how McIlroy was doing after winning the Masters for the first time in his career.
“No idea. Didn’t talk to me once all day,” DeChambeau said. Another reporter asked DeChambeau if he tried to initiate a conversation with McIlroy. “He wouldn’t talk to me,” Bryson DeChambeau replied.
Many people on social media said Rory McIlroy was simply too focused to talk to DeChambeau. One person wrote, “As he should. Rory is there to win, not make friends. Clearly he learned something from Tiger [Woods]. He talked about the mental battle he was having all day, in the press conference. Rory did something amazing today. He’s in rarified company, being only the SIXTH player to win the career grand slam!”
Another person wrote, “So? You’re in a final group in THE biggest of majors. You both should be in the zone. He wouldn’t have talked to his best mate!!! That’s not being rude, it’s being focused!

Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t keep up with Rory McIlroy
While McIlroy was on his way to a Masters title, DeChambeau fell out of contention during the final round. The LIV Golf star shot a 75 on Sunday after having a one-stroke lead in the tournament earlier in the day. Overall, DeChambeau finished seven under and tied for fifth.
“Just more of the same with my irons,” DeChambeau said per Golfweek. “If I had somewhat of good iron play this week, it would have been a different outcome. But could have, should have, would haves. You’ve got to do it.”
When asked about being the leader for a brief period, DeChambeau said, “Feeling awesome. Felt in control. The third hole, hit it up there to 20 feet, I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s exactly the way I wanted to play the hole. And that putt, I’ve never seen a putt faster than that. Those greens got really fast. The agronomists here at Augusta National, they know how to play complete tricks on you.”
