The USA Today 301 at New Hampshire is under a red flag due to rain. Bubba Wallace is confused why the wet weather tires aren’t being used. So, what is up with NASCAR? Why aren’t they racing?

Rain came down too hard for the slick tires to work anymore. But it didn’t rain very hard at first. Instead, NASCAR waited and the rain began to pick up more and more as time ticked away.

Enough time passed for Bubba Wallace to get to his phone and tweet.

“What rain tires…” the driver said.

If you have them, use them. If not, then call the race. It isn’t that hard, folks. Let’s get some NASCAR racing going!

Okay, there was lightning in the area. But not for a period of time. NASCAR almost waited for the storm to get closer so they could pull people out of the grandstands. With 82 laps to go on a one-mile track, it feels like they could have gotten in 30-40 more laps on wet-weather tires.

Bubba Wallace probably wants to get on the track to advance his position a little more, too. He is in a heated points battle on the playoff bubble. Thankfully, for Wallace, Joey Logano had an incident in the race and that moved him to the back of the field.

Logano and Wallace are in a tight battle. Every position, every single week matters.

Bubba Wallace needs a strong run

Since finishing P7 at Darlington, things have been shaky for Bubba Wallace. There is something about this team that hasn’t been clicking like they were at the end of last year or the beginning of this season. Everything was going so well until back-to-back DNFs at Talladega and Dover.

Wallace has not qualified as well as he did in the early part of the season. Qualifying in the top-10 was a big part of his strengths in the stage racing era of NASCAR. He has not been able to find that speed lately.

In the last month, finishes of P11, P21, P20, and P17 have put Wallace in a tough spot. Other drivers have moved up in the points, Wallace has only fallen over the course of the season. After that Texas race, it felt like he was going to have a career-best season. Now, not so much.

Bubba Wallace is P14 at the moment under red. He is right behind Chris Buescher, another bubble driver. This is the part of the season when things get serious and the 23 team has to step it up. If they don’t they will be left out of the postseason.
