Bubba Wallace apologizes to Kyle Larson for spinning him

In the waning moments of the Toyota Owners 400, Bubba Wallace spun Kyle Larson with just two laps to go, causing a caution to come out and the race to go to overtime.

The incident occurred when Larson got a little loose on a straightaway. Wallace, who was tailing close behind, then got up into Larson’s back bumper and spun him.

Larson somehow was able to get control of his car quickly and pit, coming out in fourth place after the stop. He finished in third. So from his standpoint it was pretty close to no harm, no foul.

Just to be safe, Wallace made sure to come by and apologize after the race. Warning: There’s some slight language.

“It wasn’t intentional, I hope you know that,” Bubba Wallace said. “I got loose and corrected into you. It netted you and karma’s a ****** *****. It caught up to me. So sorry about that. Whatever’s coming my way, I know it. I expect it.”

Larson had a big smile on his face as Wallace came by to chat, clearly not too upset with how things shook out.

“It’s all good. Hey, it all worked out for me,” he told Wallace. “It’s all good. It’s all good.”

In addition to the third-place finish, Larson also took home points for the Stage 1 win. The stage included some changing conditions that drivers had to contend with.

The first part of the first stage was run with wet weather tires. It was only the second time the NASCAR Cup Series has used that type of tire on an oval track. Larson led Stage 1 from the pole and had a good battle with Bubba Wallace before eventually taking it home.

Tires changed to slick tires after 30 laps and the race continued on a more normal progression.

Denny Hamlin ultimately won the race after taking advantage of the late restart to maneuver himself to the front of the pack.
