Bubba Wallace chats with Chris Tucker before the Enjoy Illinois 300
Before the NASCAR Cup Series got going at WWT Raceway, Bubba Wallace was chatting it up with comedian Chris Trucker. The comedian and actor is at the track to take in the Enjoy Illinois 300. He caught up with the 23XI Racing driver on pit road and the two were talking a little bit of racing.
There is a packed crowd, a sellout, at the race track and among those fans is Chris Tucker. Known for his work on the big screen in films such as Rush Hour and Friday. Apparently, he’s a fan of NASCAR as well.
It seemed that Tucker was going over the tracks that he had been to in the past. You can hear him mention Pocono and Daytona during the short video with Bubba Wallace. It seems that he is just ticking race venues off the list. He’s picked three solid tracks to attend so far.
It is always interesting to see drivers in these moments before the race. Perhaps these little conversations are how they are able to stay calm and keep cool under pressure. It can’t be easy climbing into a hot race car and going for a 300-mile drive. If anyone is going to calm your nerves before a big event, it has to be a funny guy like Tucker, right?
Of course, Wallace is on a pretty good streak in the last month or so. He might be able to continue that streak in St. Louis.

Bubba Wallace seeking fifth straight top-5
Dating back to the Kansas race on May 7, Bubba Wallace has recorded four straight top-5 finishes. That includes the All-Star Race. Kansas, Darlington, North Wilkesboro, and Charlotte. Those are four tracks that are different, have their own quirks, and apparently play into Wallace’s strengths.
Wallace has a win at this track, although it was in 2014 in the Truck Series. But the driver has the winning experience and would like to do it again all these years later. While Bubba didn’t have the speed he wanted in qualifying, his teammate Tyler Reddick had some great speed.
We saw Bubba Wallace charge to the front after pit road issues last week. He will have to battle his way through the field again this Sunday. The lightning delay has this race postponed for a bit, but we should be able to get this event underway.
Let’s see if these drivers can give Chris Tucker a show today in the Enjoy Illinois 300.
