As this race started to click laps away in the final stage, Daniel Suárez checked up and soon enough, Ty Gibbs and others were wrecking. This is the first major incident of the NASCAR Cup Series race involving seven cars.

There have been a few wrecks involving single cars and a Chase Elliott wreck with multiple cars. This one was much more violent and intense. There were seven total cars involved in this wreck.

Noah Gragson, Zane Smith, Cole Custer, JJ Yeley, Cody Ware, Ty Gibbs, and Daniel Suárez were all in the Lap 184 wreck. Custer took a big shot. Suárez checked up in response to Bubba Wallace being blocked by Riley Herbst and it was over from there.

A wreck this late in the race is a big deal. Daniel Suárez will not be able to defend his win in this race. His three-wide peers from a year ago, Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney are both running up front looking for redemption, though.

This race had a flip to start Stage 3. Teams went for points in the first two stages and those who didn’t then took the lead to begin the final stage. A lot of Chevys now near the front and the Toyotas and Fords will have to figure things out again.

During the early stages, the Team Penske Fords were great. Josh Berry won the opening stage for Wood Brothers and the other Penske cars were at one point in a line behind him.

Daniel Suárez out of the race early

Trackhouse Racing was hoping to see the 99 team repeat today. This is one of Daniel Suárez’s best tracks on the schedule. It just won’t happen this time around. However, Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen are running strong late in this race.

With this new Atlanta track, anything can happen. There are so many possibilities as the laps count down and these drivers begin to get aggressive with each other late. Every position matters and these drivers race willing to put it all on the line for the shot at a checkered flag.

Perhaps Daniel Suárez can go to COTA and put on another strong road course performance. Ross Chastain won at the track a few years ago, but NASCAR is opting for the shorter circuit next week in Texas.
