Bubba Wallace and Daniel Hemric showed love to each other online after reacting to a story published by a NASCAR reporter. On Wednesday, Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut shared a story about Wallace having a new outlook on life after a short conversation with Hemric. Wallace then reposted Weaver’s post about the story on X/Twitter and sent a message to Hemric.

“Never been that deep, right [Daniel Hemric]?” Bubba Wallace wrote.

Hemric responded, “That’s right, and it will never be [Bubba Wallace]. Keep doing you’re thing.”

In the story, Weaver talked about a conversation Wallace had with Hemric last summer. “He said, ‘Hey man, (are) you good,’ and I said ‘yeah,’ and he said, ‘Good man, it’s never been that deep,’ and he walked away.”

Last year, Wallace had a lot going on, including contract extension negotiations and charter negotiations, which led to 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports filing a lawsuit against NASCAR. But when Hemric told Wallace, “It’s never been that deep,” that had an impact on him.

“I was like, ‘oof, that hit home,’ but I’ve also enjoyed being a new dad and enjoying life,” Wallace told reporters on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. “That’s always going to be there. It’s counterintuitive (to everything he has ever done), and I’m enjoying it while it lasts, but I’ve always placed racing over everything and didn’t place anything in front of racing.”

Another big thing that happened to Wallace last year is he became a dad. He and his wife, Amanda, welcomed son Becks Hayden in September. Wallace told reporters he’s having fun now, which wasn’t always the case during the last five years.

“The most important thing is that I want to be competitive and just have a shot of winning each and every weekend,” Wallace said. “I have that now with 23XI and so when I don’t win, I can look myself in the mirror and somewhat take blame for it because all the resources are there and all the people are there, and I didn’t get the job done.

“All the stress came from, look at the past two seasons, throw away the numbers, starting off hot, Bubba Wallace goes quiet for three months, and then needed to turn it up in the summer and it’s ‘oh s**t.'”
