Bubba Wallace suggests Bowman Gray Stadium should host All-Star Race

After racing at Bowman Gray Stadium for the Cook Out Clash, Bubba Wallace is down to return for the All-Star Race down the line. NASCAR came in and made a ton of upgrades at the track and has now proved that they can have exciting racing on the track with the Cup Series.
Bubba Wallace had a good showing at the Clash. He was P5 at Bowman Gray in a solid race overall. So, why not give it a try for the All-Star Race and a $1,000,000 payday?
The topic came up on Door Bumper Clear with Freddie Kraft, Tommy Baldwin, and Karsyn Elledge. It’s an interesting idea, at least.
“I wouldn’t mind that being the All-Star Race,” Wallace said of Bowman Gray.
The Clash doesn’t mean much and you saw drivers giving the door to each other. Imagine putting a seven-figure payday on the line.
“Yeah, but at the same time, though, this is where I feel like in our sport when we, and I’m guilty of it too,” Bubba Wallace continued. “When we go to Bowman Gray, and we know there’s nothing on the line. If you run into me I’m going to be pissed at you the whole f***ing season. Right? … We go back to Bowman Gray and have an All-Star Race, that race doesn’t matter [but] it’s a million dollars, right?
“It’s a million dollars on the line and I got wrecked for it, okay sure. No, it’s like, you throw everything at them so you’re going to race him like an asshole the next ten weeks. Like, isn’t this what we kinda want? You want the beating and banging, you want that stuff.”
Would Bowman Gray make a good All-Star venue?

Things were not easy for Helio Castroneves in Daytona. Despite having an automatic qualifying spot by virtue of the Open Exemption Provisional, everything else was hard.

Reflecting on Helio’s journey, Bubba Wallace shared his thoughts on the IndyCar driver’s P39 finish. And had an interesting criticism of the OEP at the same time.
“I sat there and thought about it when I came on the radio and homeboy [Castroneves] was taking his time into three versus the Duel, he was hauling ass and ate shit,” Wallace joked on Door Bumper Clear this week. “And I sat there and I thought about it more, and I felt bad for him. I didn’t get a chance to talk to him, I’m sure he’s a great guy, but I’m pretty sure he probably left that whole weekend feeling like a complete clown.”
Wallace made an apt comparison to the Indianapolis 500 with a couple of interjections from the hosts of the show.
“I think about if roles were reversed, I’m not just jumping in the car at the Indy 500,” Wallace explained. “I get a whole month of testing, another month of testing, and then another month on top of that. [Rookie test] Yeah, all this stuff! And NASCAR’s like, ‘Nah, come on in.’ [Run ARCA], yeah you’re going to learn a lot! It’s like, what are we doing?”
