Tonight at Wrigley Field, Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing are the special guests for the Guardians and Cubs game. 23XI Racing night is off and running as the game started right around 2:20 PM EST on Friday. Tyler Reddick and Kurt Busch were also part of the NASCAR celebrations.

When it was all decided upon, Reddick gave the first pitch duties to Bubba Wallace. I know that the driver of the 45 is talented and capable behind the wheel – not so sure about his athletic abilities on the baseball field.

All things considered, I think the first pitch went great. Reddick was the catcher behind home plate, Busch acted as the umpire, and Wallace delivered a throw that was a little high and to the left. Just outside, but Kurt called it a strike anyway.

These NASCAR drivers might be able to do more than turn left, I think. Check out the pitch from Eric Estepp on Twitter.

Delivering the first pitch can be nerve-wracking. Many celebrities have made a fool of themselves with their poor pitches. The goal should always be to make it catchable. Keep it out of the dirt, but don’t throw it too high. Don’t try to throw heat, you’ll just mess it up.

A nice solid pitch to home plate is all you need. Bubba Wallace delivered a solid pitch and this Cubs/Guardians matchup is underway. This is just part of the great work 23XI Racing has been doing in Chicago this week.

Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick ready for Chicago

Today the NASCAR drivers made their way to the track. A lot of work is being done now that teams are on the ground in Chicago. While Bubba Wallace isn’t considered a great road course driver, his teammate has a knack for the stuff. So, could we see 23XI in Victory Lane this weekend?

If Michael Jordan is going to get a win in the city of Chicago it is more than likely going to come from Tyler Reddick. The 45 is one of four favorites heading into the weekend at 7-1 odds. We have seen in the last three years that Reddick knows what he is doing on the twists and turns of the road.

However, street racing is still different. Walls on both sides, can’t overshoot the turns like an open road course. How Reddick responds to those factors in practice and qualifying will really show us if he is capable of winning the Grant Park 220 on Sunday.

For now, Bubba Wallace and Reddick are just enjoying Chicago and entertaining the fans along the way. And as always, it’s good to see Kurt Busch having fun and enjoying the Cubs game.
