Bubba Wallace wins second career race ahead of team owner Denny Hamlin
Bubba Wallace of 23XI Racing won his second career NASCAR race on Sunday, beating team owner Denny Hamlin who finished second. Wallace was emotional as always after the big win as he became the 18th different driver to win a race this year in the Cup Series out of 28 races. Although Wallace did not qualify for the playoffs, the race was a big victory for him as he has been searching for a win all season long.

Wallace was audibly and visibly emotional following the win as his radio chatter captured his celebration on the track. Wallace loudly shouted on the radio “what they gonna say now baby,” after the win, clearly relieved to finally get the critics off of his back for a time. When he finally reached the finish line to accept the checkered flag and got out of his car, Wallace looked directly into the camera and “silenced” his doubters.

Toyota cars finished in the top three positions of the race as well, leading to a nice moment on the track as Hamlin drove past him to congratulate him on his victory. Shortly afterwards, third-place finisher Christopher Bell shared his congratulations by bumping Wallace from behind.
“Man, just so proud of this team,” said Wallace after the race. “So proud of the effort that they put in each and every week. Just thankful for the opportunity right? I took this jump from an idea two years ago from a text from Denny before it all even happened — he was ready to get the deal done. Appreciate him. Appreciate MJ and Curtis, Gene … everybody at 23XI. Men and women there, they work their tails off.
“Just thankful. Thankful for the opportunity. And thankful to shut the hell up for a lot of people.”
