The Buffalo Bills announced extensions for head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane on Friday. Both team leaders are now locked in with Buffalo through the 2027 season. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the contracts have been done “for some time.”

“These contracts, announced today, have actually been done for some time,” Rapoport shared. “Besides properly compensating McDermott and Beane, this also puts them in line contractually, linking their deals to the same year.”

The Bills are one of two teams in the NFL to win at least 10 games and earn a playoff appearance in each of the last three seasons. They’ll keep the good times rolling with the coaching staff and the personnel department by extending McDermott and Beane.

“Sean is a proud, Christian, determined man,” Bills owner Terry Pegula said, via the team’s release. “I remember before his interview for the Bills head coaching job thinking about him being a two-time National Prep Wrestling Champ. I thought to myself, you wrestled, you’re determined, you love what you’re doing, and you won. He comes to the Bills every day and will never ask anyone, player or coach, to do anything he wouldn’t do.”

Before coming to Buffalo, McDermott spent from 2011 to 2016 as the Carolina Panthers’ defensive coordinator. Coming into the job with the Bills, the head coach broke the team’s 17-year playoff drought in year one.

Bills tie McDermott, Beane contracts together through 2027

Brandon Beane became the Bills General on May 9 in 2017. Since he’s overseen the roster, the Bills have won the AFC East in three straight seasons (2020-2022) and made it to the playoffs in the last five out of six seasons.

“Brandon is a very competitive person,” Pegula said. “I know he likes to win, but I also know he hates to lose. He’s not afraid to say what he’s thinking and if he disagrees with something he will say so, even to the owner. I love it. He, Sean, Kim and I have a very good relationship with open discussions, debate and a lot of communication.”
