The terrifying Monday Night Football incident involving Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field has another update, this time from the Bills themselves. The team Twitter account released a statement regarding Hamlin’s health and recovery on Thursday morning, which you can read and see below:

“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.

“We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”

Father of Damar Hamlin met with the entire Buffalo Bills team, provides update

Hamlin’s father — Mario Hamlin — met with the entire Buffalo Bills team and provided an update on his son and their teammate on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter on ESPN.

“Damar Hamlin’s father, Mario Hamlin, addressed the entire Bills team on a zoom call Wednesday to personally update everyone in attendance on his son, per source,” tweeted Schefter. “Mario Hamlin informed the Bills that Damar was making progress and, in the words of one source, ‘the team needed it.’”

It’s fantastic news to hear Mario Hamlin was able to tell the Bills about his son’s progress, and it was sure to be a huge pick-me-up for his teammates, who’s minds have not strayed from their teammate’s well-being.

During Buffalo’s Monday Night Football Game against Cincinnati, Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after making a tackle. In one of the scariest moments in NFL history, Hamlin required an AED and CPR on the field to resuscitate him, before he was rushed to a local Cincinnati hospital. Since then, he’s been in critical condition.

The game was suspended and won’t be played this week.

Moreover, the news of Mario Hamlin’s positive update comes after a family representative for the family of Damar Hamlin gave a positive statement on the safety’s health to the public, saying that he is progressing in a positive direction.

Jordon Rooney, a representative for the family, spoke to the Associated Press by phone, giving the positive update.

“They are elated right now,” Rooney said. “Damar is still their first concern. But for them, they always look at how they can turn a somewhat troubling situation into a good one. The bounce back from this, for him and his family is going to be incredible.”
