BYU at Utah odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch
The BYU Cougars and Utah Utes are set to renew “The Holy War,” one of the most heated rivalries in all of college football on Saturday in Provo, Utah. It’ll be an evening clash between the two schools, both known for their religious roots. BYU won the last edition of the game 26-17, coming on September 11th, 2021.
BYU enters the matchup undefeated with certainly plenty more to lose than the Utes. The Cougars are battling for a spot in the upcoming College Football Playoffs, and they’re currently the only unbeaten team remaining in the Big 12 Conference. Can Utah change that? We’ll have to see.
BYU is one of the hottest teams in America for a reason. They’ve only had two close calls, a 18-15 win over SMU and a 38-35 win over Oklahoma State.
FanDuel Sportsbook currently has BYU listed as a 3.5-point road favorite heading into the matchup. The over/under currently sits at 42.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Utah lost star quarterback Cam Rising for the rest of the season with an injury. So, it shouldn’t be surprising in the slightest the Cougars are favored. That being said, the Utes dominated this rivalry from 2010-2019, winning nine straight. BYU finally snapped their winning streak in 2021, the last time the two squads faced off.

Location: Rice Eccles Stadium — Provo, Utah
BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff has been the straw that stirs the drink for the Cougars. Retzlaff has completed 59.8% of his passes for 1,872 passing yards, while tossing in 18 touchdowns with seven interceptions. On the ground, the dynamic dual threat has 303 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 63 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
The BYU offensive line has also only allowed nine sacks all season, which ranks them 21st in the nation in that stat category. The Cougars’ secondary has also been one of the nation’s best, snatching 14 interceptions. That ranks them in a tie for third in the country.
The only teams ahead of them are JMU, Minnesota, and California. That’s bad news for freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson, who has been thrown into the fire early due to the injury of Rising. He’s the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson. Isaac Wilson has thrown eight touchdown passes and eight interceptions in his first year. And surely the BYU secondary will be looking to pounce on every opportunity he gives them.
