Cal at SMU odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch
For just the second time ever, SMU and Cal will meet on the football field. They’ll do so as conference rivals as the Mustangs get one final tune-up for the ACC Championship, and the early point spread has been released.
SMU opened as 12.5-point favorites over Cal, according to FanDuel. The over-under also opened at 58.5 for the matchup.
SMU has put together an impressive first year in the ACC, taking a 10-1 overall record and a perfect 7-0 record in league play into the final week of the season. Rhett Lashlee’s group sealed a spot in the conference championship in Week 13 after defeating Virginia 33-7, getting one step closer to an automatic berth in the College Football Playoff as one of the four highest-ranked conference champions.
Cal, however, hasn’t fared as well in Year 1 in the ACC. The Golden Bears enter Week 14 with a 2-5 record in conference play but became bowl eligible by winning their rivalry game against Stanford in Week 13. It’s the second straight year Cal is heading to a bowl game and the fourth time overall under Justin Wilcox.
Cal and SMU will square off Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m. ET at Gerald J. Ford Field to close out the regular season. Here’s how to watch the matchup.

As SMU put together a banner debut season in the ACC, the school also looked to solidify its future. Lashlee signed an extension earlier this week, and while the terms were not disclosed, it further solidifies the school’s commitment to what he’s building.
“Rhett was the clear choice when we conducted our head-coaching search in 2021, and everything he and his staff have accomplished only validates our decision,” said Rick Hart, SMU’s Director of Athletics. “He has operated in alignment with our values and represents SMU with class and integrity. As we go through a time of significant change in college athletics and the college athletics model, Rhett has been an invaluable partner and leader.
“We’re excited that Rhett, Lauren and his family will continue this journey with us and are looking forward to shaping champions and competing for championships for years to come.”
