Mel Kiper gives hilarious reaction to Caleb Williams being compared to Aaron Rodgers
The biggest question in the NFL right now — Justin Fields or Caleb Williams? Chicago is internally battling with this at the moment, having to decide between keeping the No. 1 overall pick to select Williams or riding with Fields and receiving a good amount of draft capital for the pick.
If you ask ESPN’s Matt Miller, the choice should be an easy one for the Bears. Williams should be the guy moving forward. Fields has been in the league for three seasons now and the results have been a bit of a mixed bag. From a football and financial standpoint, rolling with Williams is the smart decision in Miller’s eyes.
“They draft the guy that I think can be the next Aaron Rodgers,” Miller said. “That is Caleb Williams. I don’t see this as a debate, guys. Justin Fields has played in the NFL for three years. Have you ever felt ‘That guy can win us a Super Bowl?’ Absolutely not. And I was a Justin Fields fan coming out of Ohio State.
“He hasn’t been developed well in Chicago. They need to restart the contract situation. You can do that with Caleb Williams who, by the way, is the best quarterback prospect I’ve seen since Andrew Luck in 2012.”
Mel Kiper gave his opinion as well, saying Chicago should take Williams unless given a “haul” by another franchise.

However, you may have noticed Miller gave a comp for Williams, dubbing him to potentially be the next Aaron Rodgers. Kiper is not a huge fan of comps and when asked what he thought of Miller’s, his reaction was hilarious.
“I think nothing of it because I don’t listen to comps,” Kiper said. “I have no opinion on that whatsoever. I just want to see somebody comped to an average player at some point in time.”
Now, you have to be careful throwing the name Aaron Rodgers around Bears fans. The history between the two does not favor Chicago and it’s well documented. Rodgers has stated many times that he owns the Bears and the results certainly back his words up.
If Williams can live up to the comparison and be a Rodgers-like player for the Bears, it will wind up being one of the greatest decisions in franchise history. A big projection from Miller before Williams ever takes an NFL snap but it’s a part of the pre-draft process — whether Kiper likes the exercise or not.
